Fan Tables



Fan Tables

Fan tables are an important part of any convention. This is where fan groups and conventions can run a table to advertise themselves, take memberships and generally promote themselves to members. And it's a great opportunity for members, especially those new to fandom, to find out what's available and what other events are coming up.

Booking Rules

Our fan tables will be located in our Concourse Area, along with with our exhibits, catering and sales to member functions. Here are the rules for booking:

  • Fan tables are available free of charge to fan groups. Their purpose is to allow groups to make contacts and disseminate information.

  • Groups may not conduct games or gaming activities at their table.

  • Sales of memberships, bid-supports, and group-related/promotional items (T-shirts, book bags, pins, etc.) are permissible activities for fan groups, conventions and bids.

  • Sales of non-related items, such as collectibles, jewellery, and general merchandise, may not be conducted from Fan Tables. Please note that for-profit companies or individuals cannot sell merchandise or collectible items at Fan Tables or any other convention space outside of the Dealer's Room.

  • There is a limit of one booking per organisation. Most groups will take one table which is 6 feet long. Some groups (e.g. Worldcon bids) may need more tables.

  • The playing of loud music, videotapes, musical instruments, or other loud noises is prohibited. Please be considerate of other groups sharing Fan Table space.

  • Interaction is not responsible for lost, misplaced or stolen property of any sort. Groups and individuals taking tables are fully responsible for security over their possessions.

How to Book

Our fan tables are being managed by Marah Searle-Kovacevic who can be contacted at fantables@interaction.worldcon.org.uk.

If you would like to reserve Fan Table space, please email Marah with your request as soon as possible, providing your group name, contact details and stating the number of tables you would like. Please also state any special requirements you may have.

There is no charge for Fan Tables, however we will need to pass on the charges we incur with the SECC if you wish to have access to power sockets, a telephone line, or an Internet connection. Marah can provide prices for these on request.

The main closing date for table reservations is Friday 17 June 2005. After this, we will endeavour to help with requests but cannot guarantee that space will be available.

In the event that you need to cancel your reservation, please let us know as soon as possible; this will give us time to reallocate the space.
