For immediate release: Monday 28 April 2003
Interaction Mails Armadillo Dreams #1
Interaction, the 2005 Worldcon, released the first issue of its
pre-convention Newsletter, "Armadillo Dreams", on 21st April 2003.
Interaction plans to produce three issues of Armadillo Dreams
in the run-up to the Convention, along with four Progress Reports.
Whilst the Progress Reports will follow traditional lines, the
Newsletter provides more information and news from behind the
scenes, giving a flavour of the effort and activities that go
into the creation of a Worldcon.
The first issue features a retrospective on the history of the 2005
Bid by Convention Chair Vince Docherty, news from around the convention
team and a showcase of UK fan writing from the period since the
last UK Worldcon (Intersection) in 1995. New artwork has been
provided by Teddy Harvia and a Newsletter logo by Sue Mason.
Newsletters for all countries excluding the UK were mailed from the
US on 21st April 2003. US members' copies were mailed by
standard (bulk) mail from Interaction's US office in Louisville,
Kentucky. Most non-US members' copies went by International Surface
Air Lift (ISAL) mail. A small number of copies, mostly to countries
that do not participate in the ISAL program, went by ordinary air mail.
UK newsletters were distributed by hand at the 2003 Eastercon,
Seacon '03, over the Easter
weekend, with the remaining UK copies mailed out on 24th April 2003.
