The Interaction Programme

All of our programme items will take place in the SECC and the attached Moat House Hotel. Our day-time programme has over 400 hours of programming arranged across a dozen parallel tracks, ranging from panels to workshops and specialist demonstrations. In addition we will be offering two video rooms, an anime room and a games room, as well as kaffeeklatsches, literary beers and of course readings and autograph sessions. The evening programme will have a smaller number of tracks but a similarly diverse content, and will be aimed at those seeking an alternative to the Extravaganzas and parties.

Our programme is now fully designed and ready to run, but if you have any specific questions for our team, you can contact us at programme@interaction.worldcon.org.uk.

Who is Appearing?

Worldcon programmes are large and diverse and provide an opportunity to meet and interact with professionals and fans from many different parts of the genre as well as all around the globe. We know that members are always keen to know who will be appearing, and so we have published a list of confirmed participants.

Programme Structure

The main day-time programme will run from 10 am until the early evening on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the convention. The programme on Thursday will also start in the morning, but with a limited number of items, ramping up to "full strength" by mid-afternoon. Similarly on Monday, there will be a full morning programme, reducing towards the Closing Ceremony in the late afternoon.

Our daily programme schedule will feature 90 minute slots starting at 2 pm and 3:30 pm, "sandwiched" by 60 minute slots on the hour throughout the rest of the day. This structure represents a balance between our desire to leave discussions "time to breathe" and our interest in accommodating all the great ideas and offers that have come out of the programme development work. The two longer slots in the afternoon provide flexibility for running longer panels and Guest of Honour talks.

The evening programme slots will run on an hourly basis and will provide a wide range of activities whilst being lighter in content and less in number. In general, the evening programme will withdraw from the SECC (which we have to be out of by midnight) and focus on the Moat House programming spaces. Being in a hotel, these tend to be a bit cosier - and closer to the bar! The Moat House activities will also include a fan lounge, filk programming, and the video and anime rooms.

Programme Schedule

The provisional programme schedule is now available in HTML format. This version is correct as of 27 July 2005 and is the final pre-con version. We will of course advertise any last minute changes in the convention newsletter.

Please note that each of these files is around 300 KB in size to download.

Highlights and Extravaganzas

We appreciate that fans often want to know something about the Extravaganzas so they can plan their convention.

  • We have a Reductio Ad Absurdum play lined up for 8 pm on Friday night. This is a great Eastercon tradition, and we're glad to be able to present it at Interaction. We are also pleased to announce that non-members will be able to buy tickets for the event for £5 each (members will of course get in for free).

  • The Masquerade will be held on Saturday night, and will start at 8 pm. It will definitely be finished well before midnight as we are required to be out of the Clyde Hall by then.

  • The Hugo Awards will be held on Sunday night, and will also start at 8 pm.
